How far is the property from shops and pubs?
Hog Cottage is about a 10 minute walk from Wirksworth where you will find an extensive range of shops, Take Away's and Pubs. La Mistral which is a French style Bistro is situated in the middle of Wirksworth and offers excellent menu and relaxing atmosphere.
Is there a Supermarket nearby?
There is a Sainsbury’s at Matlock which is just a 15 minute drive from the Cottage.
Are there walks near to the Cottage
There are many public footpaths which you can access by heading up out of Gorsey Bank and on to the small farm lanes which lead to field footpaths and up onto St Helens Lane where you will find spectacular views of Wirksworth.
Is the location quiet and peaceful?
Hog Cottage is located in a small hamlet which is just outside Wirskworth. The road to the cottage is a small no through road and no traffic passes the Cottage therefore it offers a peaceful and relaxing retreat.
Is there parking at the property and for how many cars?
There is no off road parking at Hog Cottage. The road leading up to the Cottage is narrow and steep with a sharp right hand bend which some people find difficult to manoeuvre their car round. However the owner who has a Fiat Punto gets her car up to the front door and parks outside the property. There is parking at the bottom of Gorsey Bank which is just a couple minutes walk away.
Is there Broadband access at the property?
Yes there is Wi-Fi internet access at the property
Is there a childs chair and travel cot?
Yes we provide both a travel child’s cot and chair
Do you accept dogs and for how many can i bring?
Yes the property accepts dogs and a maximum is 2 at a £10 charge each.
Do you accept Cats?
There is stricktly a NO CAT policy due to the owners allergies.
Is the garden enclosed and how big is it?
Hog Cottage has a patio area and ‘Cottage Garden’ laid with shrubs at the front of the Cottage which has an outdoor table and chairs for 4 and a BBQ which is surrounded by a 2 ft wall and a gate. At the back of the property you will find a small walled patio area with a 8 ft wall making it a private and secluded area.
Do you offer short breaks
Yes we offer short breaks of 3 and 4 day breaks throughout the whole of the year. However we do not offer 1 and 2 nights stays due to the turn round procedure.
Are start days flexible
Check in days are on a Friday and Saturday for weekly stays and Friday and Mondays for short breaks. Please email to check first as our booking system only will allow certain day check-ins.
When do I recieve information regarding directions, key collection for the property once I have booked?
You will receive all the information about the property with directions and key collection once we have received the full payment of your booking and 10 days’ prior to your arrival
Are there any additional costs?
Heat/Light, basket of logs, bed linen, towels are all included in the price. Optional holiday insurance is extra and if you wish to pay by PayPal there is a 2.5% charge.
