Odd Cottage - Things To Do
Odd Cottage is located in Oddington, a quintessential Cotswold village with its honey coloured stone cottages and is perfectly placed for visiting the many key tourist attractions.
Stow-on-the-Wold is only a 5 minute drive and is a delightful market town with a vast Market Square and a lovely selection of shops, galleries and tea rooms.
Burford is a pretty small medieval town with an excellent selection of shops, pubs and restaurants and only 10 miles from the cottage.
Broadway is a hidden gem with fantastic shops, restaurants and pubs.
Bourton-on-the-Water is regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England and is under 15 minutes drive from the cottage.
GREAT DAYS OUT
Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens is only 13 miles away and exhibits over 260 different species of animals and is the largest privately owned zoological collection in the UK. All set in 160 acres of beautiful parkland.
Blenheim Palace at Woodstock is a firm favourite and fabulous all year round. Birthplace of our “Greatest Briton” – Winston Churchill, the magnificent palace is the ancestral home to the Dukes of Marlborough. Access to the palace, the park and gardens is available from 13th February and in our opinion well worth the entrance fee.
Railway Exhibition and Toy Shop located in Bouton-on-the-Water, boasts a comprehensive Model Railway collection plus a vast array of other toys to keep both children and adults happy.
Cotswold Motor Museum also in Bouton-on-the-Water (15 minute drive) is a truly fascinating journey through the 20th Century, overflowing with vintage and classic cars and caravans, precarious looking motorcycles, original enamel signs and an intriguing collection of motoring curiosities, it is a genuinely captivating experience for all the family.
Birdland Park in Bouton-on-the-Water is a beautiful setting for a day out and inhabits over 500 birds. Hidcote Manor Garden is located just 30 minutes away – an Arts and Crafts garden created by Major Lawrence Johnston, gardens are split into “rooms” of individual design.
Mill Dene Garden which is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This romantic garden is set around a lovely mill and includes a misty grotto, a bog garden and stream. There are plenty of seats from which to enjoy the mill pond and its trout, kingfisher and ducks.
EATING AND DRINKING
5 Minutes Drive Away Within a short drive there’s a great selection of pubs.
The Queens Head in Stow on Wold and is a great dog friendly pub with good food and a lovely atmosphere.
The Kings Head at Bledington serving hearty and traditional English food cooked in an exciting and original way with the freshest of ingredients and wherever possible using locally sourced and organic produce.
The Greedy Goose is a pretty pub with the space to suit every social occasion. Cosy corners, private dining and even a stylish restaurant.
Sheep on Sheep Street, Stow on Wold offering seasonal menu created by our kitchen. Pizzas are a major focus for us, because of our wood-fired oven in the restaurant, where you can watch your freshly made pizza cook.
The Wild Rabbit - Kingham award-winning kitchen uses the finest seasonal ingredients to create dishes that celebrate traditional British cooking bringing a contemporary twist to Cotswolds fine dining.
The nearest supermarket is Tesco which is located in Stow On The Wold which is only 3 miles away. Why not pre order your groceries and have them delivered to the cottage?
Under 15 minutes drive away you will find Dalesford Organic Farm which specialises in fresh, seasonal local food. Here you will find everything under one roof; food, a cafe and restaurant and even a cookery school.
Golf – There are two Golf Clubs nearby. Naunton Downs Golf Club is only 8 miles away and offers 18 holes and Burford Golf Club which is a renowned 18 hole golf course and located only 13 miles away.
Clay Pigeon Shooting – If you fancy trying Clay Pigeon Shooting, Cotswold Shooting at Murcot, Broadway is only 16 miles away.
Horse Riding – Try Durham Farm Riding School for experienced qualified instructors and excellent facilities. There are many loved horses and ponies available to suit all ages and abilities.
